It’s no secret… We love hotels. It’s what we do. We love sending clients to the perfect hotel for them, we love sleeping in a great hotel bed, we love a strong cocktail in a swanky lobby bar.
Big, small… It doesn’t necessarily matter.
It’s the special feeling that some properties have that you just can’t explain in words. The people that work there, the pride they have in it, the way it is kept up and treated…
And for some special places, it is the absolute uniqueness and extra something special that sets it apart from all the rest. We have blogged about some of our favorites, and I am sure it is obvious by the tone of those posts. These special places are not just hotels. They are life changing getaways; places you dream of when you return, places that you go back to year upon year, perhaps instead of always trying somewhere new, because they are just that special.
That was a really long intro to say: the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa is one of those places. That just has “it”.
We have booked plenty of clients there in the past. We have been a part of many weddings that have taken place there. But for whatever reason, I had never found the time to go see it for myself.
Well, finally, I made it happen and it’s safe to say it won’t be the last time they see me there.
From the moment we drove up, we were met with impeccable and friendly service, a knowledgeable, welcoming staff, and a gorgeous, spacious room with huge living area and private terrace. (The Fireplace Shangri-La over looking the 1st tee to be exact.)
It only got better from there when we started off with probably the best margarita I have ever had (and I consider myself quite the connosoiur) at Jimmy’s Pub.
Following that we had a beautiful dinner on the patio at Maravilla, the resort’s fine dining establishment. Every item that came out was perfection and the ambiance and scenery made it that much more amazing.
I spent the rest of the trip enjoying a great golf lesson, taking walks around the gorgeous grounds, and laying out at the fabulous adults-only Herb Garden Pool where I had my second best margarita ever, this one with fresh pomegranate juice. (These people are really serious about their margaritas which I respect …a lot!)
There is no way two days was enough; we didn’t even get to the spa, which the resort is famous for!
Truly, this special place tucked away in the hills is not to be missed. It is a great spot for a romantic getaway, even a honeymoon, or a magical wedding celebration. We look forward to sending many more clients in the future.
