How does it get more perfect than this?
When we were offered the opportunity to go check out this gorgeous property for ourselves, we jumped at the chance, sending a very thrilled Rebecca, who left behind a very sad and very pregnant Natalie.
This luxury hotel is located on a tiny island (it takes just 20 minutes to walk around the island) in the North Huvadhoo (Gaafu Alifu) atoll – 400 kilometers south of Malé and just 56 kilometers north of the Equator.
Upon arrival into Malé International Airport, we were met by a Park Hyatt representative who escorted us to the VIP Lounge where we were handed our own personal iPads for our entire stay. The representative then assisted with our check-in even before we were escorted to the property.
Next, we embarked on a short 45-minute domestic flight with an authentic ‘Maldivian’ to Kooddoo Domestic Airport located in the North Huvadhoo (Gaafu Alifu) atoll.
Once we arrived into Kooddoo Domestic Airport, we were escorted to an awaiting speedboat for an enjoyable and calm 20-minute transfer to the resort. We were met by a friendly welcome team and offered Champagne refreshments and nibbles before being escorted to our room on an electric golf cart.
There is an abundance of activities that you can experience in this pristine paradise including the ‘Trip to the Equator’ activity package (snorkeling around a deserted island and picnicking on the beach.)
How about a glass of Champagne while you swim across two hemispheres? Don’t mind if I do!
They also run a PADI 5-Star Dive Centre — offering dive programs for all ages and experience levels including; Bubble Maker, Discover Scuba Diving and PADI certification courses. The Activity Centre offers other exciting excursions such as: guided snorkeling of an undisturbed house reef, dolphin spotting, traditional Maldivian fishing and picnic on an uninhabited island.
There are two large freshwater swimming pools — the main resort infinity pool and the Vidhun Spa pool, as well as a bubble pond, a fitness center and yoga studio.
50 Villas make up the resort, including 14 Park Water Villas perched above the Indian Ocean, 20 Park Pool Villas with a private plunge pool and 16 Park Villas.
The Vidhun Spa features five couples’ treatment villas offering Dhivehi-inspired massage, skin care and wellness rituals; as well as peace and quiet from … well … peace and quiet.
The restaurants are to die for! Guests have the option of the Dining Room (a la carte) which is where we ate the first night, or The Island Grill (signature restaurant) just off the beach where we ate the second night after cocktails watching the sunset.
There are also the options of private dining for a family/group, or a romantic dinner for two at various locations around the island; including one out on the beach where you can dig your toes in the sand and watch the moon rise.
The menu options are varied and diverse and it’s impossible to eat the same thing twice due to their incredible range of ingredients, skilled chef and team.
But even in paradise there is nothing that compares to the kindness and dedication from an expert team of staff who went above and beyond at any given opportunity to make us feel truly welcome.
